April signifies the start of the major European superyacht show season.
With 2022 being the first year with no COVID restrictions we are planning for a busy year visiting the best of the international shows. How better to start off than by visiting the back to back MYBA Charter Show and Palma Superyacht Show.
Armed with a full pack of business cards and lots of suncream our MD Ed made the trip to visit the two shows, representing SYR as a leading brand in the recruitment of brokers and other shoreside professionals from across yachting.
MYBA Charter Show
This was a first visit to what is heralded as a good season-opener. With word that only 11 yachts were present, we weren’t sure how busy this event would be, however a strong turnout from a number of major brokerage houses meant that this was a well attended event and a valuable opportunity to get in front of some new faces.
Attending the show for two days, Ed secured a number of new opportunities across the European brokerage market, continuing to spread work of SYR across the sales and charter sector and proving that we are building a strong reputation in this challenging marketplace.
Whilst at the show, we also secured a tour of the famous MB92 Barcelona. Sadly due to strict NDAs no photos are allowed, however during the tour we noted a number of well known craft in the 80m+ sector in for varying levels of work. The facility itself holds huge capacity and even this close to the main season, the yard was decided busy!
Palma Superyacht Show
A first visit for Ed as SYR but his 5th in his time in recruitment, Palma never fails to disappoint!
Visiting the Global Services/Viking Crew party on the first night was a fantastic opportunity to network across the likes of management companies, industry suppliers and sales professionals and set a great precursor for the coming days.
Throughout the show, SYR were well received by those we spoke to. As we were working with a number of brands at the event, we were given tours of some exciting new yachts including a number of the Sanlorenzo Range and the Vision 82H, incredible craft in their own markets.
We again left the event positively, with a number of new positions to be recruiting for and some exciting invites to visit clients later in the year.
Palma is and always will be a busy and exciting market for us, with opportunities in both commercial and technical departments. We’re hoping to grow our presence in the region in 2022, so keep your eyes peeled!
