Lead Design Engineer - Luxury Craft

Are you a Lead-level Design Engineer with the ability to lead and manage a small team and with a background working with small composite craft?

SYR are supporting a fantastic dutch boatbuilder who are seeking a Lead Engineer to join them and manage the current design team (6) across a wide range of projects. With each build either semi or fully custom and built with external concept design partners, the role will be hugely diverse, challenging and exciting!

The Lead Engineer role will include the following duties:

– Collaboration with external design partners and naval architects, receiving drawings and documents for internal development

– Support to the Project Manager of each build, ensuring timely document release and overseeing rolling design changes

– Management of the engineering team, assigning projects and manage delivery timescales and acting as a second pair of eyes

– Ensuring the smooth running of all aspects of the engineering department

In terms of the ideal character for this role we’re seeking someone with 10 years or more experience in small craft design engineering. You will be running a small team of mixed nationalities however English is the chosen language in the office so fluency is key. You’ll be a confident leader, organised and ambitious and with the ability to deal with stakeholders at all levels. A degree in yacht design, naval architecture or equivalent is also essential.

You’ll be joining a business that plans to grow by around 40% in terms of staff this year to cope with a long project forward order book and be well rewarded for your hard work through an excellent earnings package. 

Salary for the role will be €4,500-5,200/month plus benefits.
