Senior Design Engineer

We are looking for a senior designer who is conversant with lightweight, advanced composite design, and who can apply innovative engineering principles to allow our clients to achieve their projects, on time.  We want someone who is able to ensure each project design is produced to our high standards based on practical engineering principles and regulatory compliance.

Your main responsibilities:

• Leading design engineering projects from concept through to delivery
• Designing all elements of a small craft
• Produce clear and well-presented drawings and plans
• Creating detailed 3D models and 2D drawings, for a wide range of products from small components to whole vessel systems
• Regular design meetings to control priorities and timescales
• Providing technical guidance to other team members
• Creating technical reports
• Liaising with clients to efficiently communicate design progress
• Potential for some overseas travel

Your skills and qualifications:

Essential:

• BEng or Naval Architecture Degree
• Small craft design experience
• Excellent Rhino 3D skills
• Practical problem-solving skills

Desirable:

• Demonstrable knowledge in boat design systems including electrical, fuel, bilge etc.
• Solidworks experience
• Experience working with a variety of classification societies
• Experience in high performance sailing systems
• Experience in lightweight composite structures
• Experience of leading minor engineering small craft projects from requirement capture through to delivery
