Are you an experienced electrical design engineer with experience in the maritime sector with either high or low voltage projects?

SYR are pleased to welcome a brand new client who are at the forefront of maritime project development. With strong links to the defence and commercial sectors, they are working on a host of challenging and exciting R&D projects alongside production of customer orders. With continued pipeline of growth ahead of them, they are looking to grow their electrical team with an accomplished senior. 

 

Reporting into the department head this is a highly important role when it comes to project ownership and execution, with the following duties expected:

– Development and design electrical systems for vessels, including power distribution, propulsion control, sensor integration, and communication networks.

– Collaboration with software and control engineers to integrate electrical systems with onboard navigation and control systems.

– Ensure all electrical designs comply with relevant maritime regulations and standards for vessels and classification society requirements.

– Oversee the testing and validation of electrical systems.

– Work closely with naval architects, mechanical engineers, and software developers to ensure seamless integration of electrical systems into the overall vessel design.

– Create  detailed technical documentation, including design specifications, test plans, and compliance reports.

– Review/sign off drawings and ensure drawing control and configuration is maintained.

 

Our ideal candidate will be a degree educated electrical engineer with experience in the maritime space. You’ll have a solid understanding of the electrical design and manufacturing process and be confident to both lead and deputise across a range of exciting projects. ideally you’ll have worked on smaller craft with low voltage systems however exposure to high voltage can and will be considered as upcoming projects will be moving into 3-phase. Alongside your technical ability, solid interpersonal skills and the ability to work as part of a small team is essential.
