An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced technical individual to join a well known and respected large yacht surveyors, working to survey some of the most advanced yachts in the world.
Having grown organically since launch, the brand now operates a team of 8 across the UK and Europe and are looking to bring in another individual at junior/mid level to bolster the in-house employed survey team. Taking a more collaborative approach to their work, the team aim to build excellent working relationships with their customers, preferring to work together with yards and crews rather than be seen as a part of the process to cause concern when they arrive.
Under the leadership of a highly experienced business owner, the role will see you leverage both your own and the business’ relationships to generate survey business across Europe. You’ll spend time on site carrying out surveys and be confident in producing detailed reports on behalf of the team for review by Captain, owner or management company, acting impartially and ensuring that no stone is left unturned.
Using skills learnt through a technical career, you’ll be able to know how and where to identify a yacht’s compliance (or indeed lack thereof) and be confident in speaking with a variety of stakeholders to advise on rectification of where changes can be made to ensure better longevity of service. Given the brand already has such a strong reputation, continuing to do good work will see you exposed to new commercial opportunities, which it is also hoped you will capitalise upon.
Our ideal candidate for this position will need to be well versed in technical yachtbuilding ideally as a Naval Architect, having worked for a classification or flag state society or indeed having worked at sea as an Engineer (though we are not looking for someone straight off a yacht for this particular role). You’ll have a strong grasp on the various survey requirements and be able to carry out high quality work at all times. Alongside your technical expertise, we are also looking for someone who is an excellent communicator, confident to build and nurture strong working relationships.
On offer is an excellent team environment with the ability to work remotely. Within the UK, the team are south coast based, however the wider team are across Europe. Expect regular travel in order to fulfil your duties. Salary for the role will be in the region of £50-60,000 per annum.
