Are you a talented Designer keen to work on detail and product design for a leading shipyard brand design office?

SYR are supporting a fantastic organisation in Palma who are looking to bring in a freelance Designer to support on detail design for interior and exterior parts on their range of stunning sailing yachts. With various models already in build and multiple future projects underway, the team are looking for an accomplished individual with strong CAD skills to model a variety of parts. 

Reporting to the Head of Design, the role will include:

– Supporting both internal and external design partners in sketching and modelling detail items for both interior and interior.

– Working from a blank sheet to create contemporary and stylish parts that will suit the aesthetics of each model, but also meet feasibility and cost requirements.

– Ensuring that each product is fit for purpose and is ergonomically suited. 

– Create 3D models in Rhino and 2D CAD drawings for manufacture.

– Ensure that products meet regulatory and class requirements.

Our ideal candidate will have worked in product or detail design in the yachting sector (ideally with some interest in sailing yachts) and be a truly creative individual capable of working to a design brief to output exciting works. You’ll have strong digital skills in Rhino, further skills in VRay are an advantage. Working closely with the in-house team, you’ll be confident and capable, able to communicate in fluent English. 

On offer will be a freelance contract with an attractive rate. You will need to be registered as an Autonomo or have your own limited company registered in Spain and be either based or happy to relocate to Palma for the duration of the role.

    Are you a seasoned Interior Designer keen to work with a contemporary yachting brand in Palma de Mallorca?

    SYR are pleased to be working in partnership with a leading shipyard as they look to hire a talented interior professional to their design team. Nearing its tenth birthday, this exciting brand have released a number of vessels in the 60-100ft range, all offered with a semi-customised and usually highly contemporary interior style. 

    To date interiors have been penned by external design partners however the team are now looking to bring these skills in house through the hiring of an accomplished Designer. Duties will include:

    – Working with both client and shipyard to understand and create interior concepts for approval, capturing the clients vision.

    – Creating stunning 3D models and visuals for use both internally and externally.

    – Working with the yard to ensure feasibility to construct your designs, creating 3D CAD models and 2D construction drawings.

    – Project managing through the interior design and manufacture process, working with internal and external trades and partners.

    – Ensuring sign off and completion of each build from an interiors perspective. 

    As an individual you will be working closely with a number of stakeholders, so excellent communication and strong management skill is essential. Coming from a background in yacht interior design (minimum 5 years) you’ll be confident when it comes to creating highly individual interiors and have a good understanding of how to design and manufacture a yacht interior. Excellent digital skills are also essential, ideally in Rhino for 3D CAD, VRay for visuals and Autocad for 2D. 

    An international role, we also require an individual fluent in English. Language skills in German, Italian or Spanish are also beneficial but not essential. 

    On offer is a great role for a talented Designer. Salary for the role will be in the region of €4,000/month gross salary with further benefits. You must be able to live and work in Palma de Mallorca, this is not a remote role!
