We’re working with a fantastic south coast marina and boatyard facility based in West Sussex who are looking for such a profile to join them in the role of business leader. With around 100 marina berths and 180 hard standing, an on site catering facility, commercial units and more the facility has seen steady growth under its current owner over the last 15 years. However with the longstanding individual in post moving on, they now seek a new candidate to take the helm of this busy site.
Reporting into the COO, this is a hugely autonomous role with a direct team of 6. A role that is both hands on and managerial, you’ll be given the chance to lead the business as you see fit and contribute to its continued growth and success, rewarded well in return. Duties will include:
– General management of the business – P&L responsibility, operational oversight, tennant and bertholder liaison and more
– Ensuring the smooth running of the site through both your existing employed team and outside contractors
– Analysis of the current business position and identification of further growth and profit-making opportunities
– Working with local authorities, bertholders and neighbours to ensure new projects secure the correct permissions
– Creating the business case for growth plans, working closely with the owner to gain sign off and embark on development
– Working closely with central finance, marketing and sales to maximise company visibility and revenues per customer.
The role is a huge opportunity for an ambitious candidate keen to take on a challenging new role and creating something of their own, but with the support of a very entrepreneurial group owner.
In a candidate we seek someone with a love of the boating world. A moderate technical understanding will be key when working with contractors, tennants and bertholders as will great customer service skills and an eye for commercial revenues. You’ll have an eye for new ideas, but also the skills to see them through, creating business plans and being able to clearly show the owner where revenues or customer experience will be improved. Marina or boatyard skills are not necessary.
Taking on this role you’ll receive a strong basic salary of up to £55,000 plus a profit-share incentive that could add as much as 25% to your annual income. Success and indeed income are limitless for the right mindset. Furthermore, as the group continues to grow there will be further opportunities within the group for the right candidate.
