We are seeking a proactive Design Engineer to join our busy and dynamic Design Office. The successful candidate will possess a solid technical foundation and a good understanding of manufacturing processes and contributing to product design and development on a project basis, as well as providing technical support to our assembly line operations.

 

A practical, hands-on approach to problem-solving and a background in engineering are important for identifying and participating in product and production line improvements. Your drive will stem from a desire to contribute to the ongoing development of our high-quality products.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Designing engineering assemblies that integrate mechanical, electrical, GRP, and other moulded components.
  • Assisting with new product development projects as directed by management.
  • Providing technical support to our production and sales teams.
  • Liaising with component suppliers on technical specifications and issues.
  • Creating, maintaining, and managing technical assembly and manufacturing drawings.
  • Supporting management in design and development-related decisions.
  • Participating in on-water product testing.
  • Assisting in the build and testing of prototypes, from initial concept through to pre-production.
  • Generating and managing Bills of Materials (BOMs).

 

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Formal education, ideally to degree level, coupled with at least five years of experience as a Design Engineer.
  • Advanced proficiency in a 3D CAD environment (NX preferred), including a strong understanding of component and assembly modelling, and the creation and release of technical drawings.
  • Proven ability to solve engineering challenges with innovative and effective solutions.
  • Experience with mechanical systems, including drivetrains.
  • Experience working with fabricated components in steel, aluminium, and plastics.
  • Understanding of moulded components and associated tooling. Experience in producing laminate schedules is beneficial.
  • Familiarity with fluid circuits and/or electrical systems is advantageous.
  • Previous experience within the Marine Industry is a plus but not a requirement.
