Design Project Manager

Are you a skilled naval architect or design engineer with a good understanding of small craft construction?

SYR are working with a leading brand in the world of yacht tenders, based in The Netherlands. With a strong history of custom yachtbuilding, the shipyard enjoys a busy order book with recently expanded capacity to take on more builds. As part of this growth they have identified the need for a Project Manager to act as the go-between for production and design, who will lead on concurrent projects. 

Duties will include:

– Working with design/engineering to ensure a full set of production drawings are provided for all stages of build

– Review and amendment to supplied drawings as required, ensuring full compliance with regulatory requirement and also that design works are feasible and fit for purpose

– Liaison with production to ensure timely drawings release

– Troubleshoot across manufacturing challenges linked to design, working on solutions and amendments as required 

– Acting as the main point of contact for internal and external stakeholders throughout the process

– Ensuring build deadlines are met, keeping everyone updated and advising on changes to schedule as required 

Our ideal candidate will come from an engineering background where they have had regular interaction with the shop floor and are confident in their understanding of both design and manufacture of small craft. Able to communicate effectively with a variety of stakeholders you’ll have the confidence to lead and advise but also stand strong when it comes to troubleshooting. With strong CAD skills you’ll be able to interpret and amend drawings as needed and work with external design partners across major challenges that may arise
