Lead Exterior Yacht Designer

SYR are working in exclusive partnership with one of yachtings’ most prominent design and engineering studios to seek out their next design colleague, to be employed at a Senior/Lead level.

With expertise in the design and engineering of luxury yachts and projects completed up to 90m, the studio employs around 35 staff and have recently launched a number of high profile and award winning vessels build at yards across the globe.

Since 2019 the studio has evolved from engineering only into offering the full design and engineering spiral and is in the process of growing its design team. With a Head of Design and a junior team in place, the Senior Exterior Designer will be coming in at a high level to act as the expert and lead on all aspects of exterior design.

Reporting into the business owners and the Head of Design the role will see you:

• Assist in generating design concepts from blank sheet
• Working with the management team to craft the creative direction and execution of the project
• Be involved in client meetings to continually build out their vision
• Lead a team of junior designers across all aspects of exterior design
• Work closely with engineering to ensure feasibility of each design
• Creating high quality concepts and using the CGI team to generate high quality visuals for client review
• Keep a constant eye on industry trends and development.

You’ll be a part of the top creative team within the studio and be both learning from your colleagues, but also leading and nurturing an ambitious team of juniors to execute the clients needs. With projects in consideration of up to and over 100m, there is huge long term scope to be a leading part of a team that strives to be considered as one of the best in the world.

Our ideal candidate will be 10+ years in yacht exterior design, having seen multiple projects from start to finish. With a strong creative edge, excellent CAD skills and a desire to work closely with those around you, you’re wanting to commit long term to your next employer
