Mechanical Design Engineer

A leader in naval architecture and advanced engineering for the maritime sector, is seeking an experienced and highly capable Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our dynamic team. You will play a key role in the design, development, and implementation of innovative mechanical solutions for high-performance marine vessels and related projects.

As a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, you will leverage your strong technical background and proven track record to lead and contribute to complex engineering challenges. You will be expected to take ownership of projects, mentor junior engineers, and drive technical excellence within the team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Leading and contributing to the full lifecycle of mechanical design projects, from concept development through to detailed design and implementation.
• Performing advanced engineering analysis, calculations, and simulations to validate designs and ensure performance targets are met.
• Developing and reviewing detailed technical drawings, specifications, and documentation.
• Collaborating closely with naval architects, structural engineers, electrical engineers, and other specialists to ensure seamless integration of systems.
• Selecting and specifying mechanical equipment and components.
• Overseeing the testing and validation of mechanical systems and prototypes.
• Identifying and implementing innovative design solutions to optimize performance, reliability, and efficiency.
• Providing technical guidance and mentorship to junior members of the engineering team.
• Contributing to the continuous improvement of design processes and standards within the organization.
• Liaising with suppliers and manufacturers on technical matters.

Qualifications and Experience:

• A degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
• Significant and demonstrable experience (as indicated in the original job description, e.g., 5+ years) in a mechanical design engineering role, with a strong portfolio of successful projects.
• Proven experience in the design and analysis of complex mechanical systems, ideally within the marine, aerospace, automotive, or similar high-performance engineering sectors.

• Strong experience with CAE tools for FEA, CFD, or other relevant analyses.
