The Opportunity:

As a Performance and Simulation Engineer, you will be a key contributor to the development of highly innovative products. Your role will involve using your expertise in hydrodynamics, aerodynamics, and simulation to drive the performance and efficiency of groundbreaking marine systems. Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and application of hydrodynamic and aerodynamic analysis tools and methodologies.

  • Conduct performance predictions for various marine systems, including wind-assisted propulsion and foiling technologies.

  • Develop and validate complex simulation models to assess system behaviour and optimise designs.

  • Perform detailed data analysis from simulations and real-world testing to derive actionable insights.

  • Collaborate closely with design, naval architecture, and control systems teams to integrate performance considerations throughout the product lifecycle.

  • Contribute to the identification and implementation of new simulation techniques and software.

  • Prepare comprehensive technical reports and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations.

  • Support the continuous improvement of engineering processes and methodologies.

Your Profile:

Our client is seeking an enthusiastic and skilled individual with:

  • A degree (2:1 or higher) in Naval Architecture, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline with a strong focus on fluid dynamics and simulation.

  • Proven experience in hydrodynamic and/or aerodynamic analysis and performance prediction.

  • Strong proficiency in numerical simulation techniques (e.g., CFD, VLM) and relevant software (e.g., OpenFOAM, Star-CCM+, Rhino/Orca3D, MATLAB/Simulink).

  • Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, C++) for automation and data processing is highly desirable.

  • Demonstrable experience in model correlation and validation against experimental data.

  • A solid understanding of fluid mechanics, hydrodynamics, and/or aerodynamics principles.

  • Familiarity with marine vessel performance, stability, and control is advantageous.

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.

  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information clearly and concisely.

  • A proactive approach, intellectual curiosity, and a genuine interest in marine technology and sustainability.
