Project Estimator

Do you have a solid experience in the world of maritime refit with a keen interest in stepping into an exciting role as an Estimator?

SYR are working with one of our busiest clients to assist them in growing their team in Malta. With a wide range of exciting projects underway and a constant stream of new enquiries, the role of estimator is critical when it comes to winning new business and maintaining that competitive edge. Working amongst the commercial and projects teams, the role will include the following duties:

– Liaising with sales and commercial team members to understand the full project scope and client expectations

– Piecing together a full scope of works for quotation

– Building a full project estimate, pricing using both internal and external resource

– Ensuring the output estimate remains competitve yet profitable and aligns with current market pricing fluctuations

– Staying abreast of any changes during current projects that may require updated pricing

– Providing full detailed estimate reports to commerical colleagues and filing them correctly internally for further reference. 

– Attending client meetings where required. 

Our ideal candidate for this role will have a broad understanding of shipbuilding or refit, able to understand to some extent what’s required of a project. With a sound technical knowledge you’ll know how and where to look when it comes to sourcing quotations for works and be able to use a logical and organised mindset to ensure estimates are fully costed out and are competitive amongst the market. You’ll have a solid network of suppliers and be capable of negotiating on price where possible
