Senior Structural Engineer - Composites

Are you highly experienced in marine composite structures and keen to take on an exciting new role?

SYR are working with a leading yachting industry studio who are looking for a senior level Composite Structures Engineer to join them and work across the composite engineering side of the business. Reporting into the Head of Naval Architecture this exciting role will come with, but not be limited to the following duties:

– Working with design and naval architecture to engineer composite solutions that align with requirements in terms of strength, weight, comfort and cost.

– Joining the process from the start, acting as the internal structures expert when it comes to concept development and the restraints posed by structural requirements.

– Working on and creating detailed composite drawings to be integrated into the overall drawing package.

– Ensuring that all composites work adheres to the requirements of class, flag and regulations.

– Advising on suitable and preferred construction materials and methods.

– Produce construction drawings for supply to shipyard.

– Act as a technical troubleshooter both internally and externally. 

To be considered for this role you will need to come for a background in composite structures or naval architecture with a minimum of 5 years’ experience. A solid team player, you’ll be an asset to each project and be confident to challenge others when it comes to ensuring that each new design meets structural requirements. You’ll be joining a close knit team and have the option to be based on site in Cowes, UK or in time to be remote based elsewhere in the UK if required.
