Structural Analysts required on the race to net-zero emissions. Working at the top tier of the maritime sector, this company is only seeking the best and brightest engineers from any industry to join their team. Working on first of class and completely novel solutions in the maritime world, they are truly on the forefront of maritime technology.

The company itself boasts a successful career with multiple distinguished projects with the common focus of reducing emissions and increasing performance. Now looking to expand their team further and fully into scale up phase, we are seeking an Lead Analyst to join an already impressive team.

The role itself would be working at early concept stage with the development of further engineering and design – production design is largely outsourced to their manufacturing partners. As an engineer, you’ll not only be given the opportunity to work on complex engineering problems but also have a significant impact on worldwide emissions for future generations.

Role:

  • Conduct detailed linear and non-linear structural analyses using Nastran
  • Develop and validate finite element models of complex structural components and assemblies.
  • Perform static, dynamic, and buckling analyses to assess structural behaviour under various loading conditions.
  • Perform hand calculations to verify and provide physical insight into FEA results.
  • Collaborate closely with design engineers to optimize structural designs for weight, strength, and stiffness.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of best practices for structural analysis within the team.
  • Stay abreast of the latest advancements in FEA methodologies and software capabilities.
  • Participate in design reviews and provide structural engineering input.
  • Support physical testing programs by providing analytical predictions and correlation studies.

Background

A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Naval Architecture, Aerospace Engineering, or a closely related discipline with a strong emphasis on structural mechanics.

Proven experience (typically 7+ years, adjust based on desired seniority) in performing linear and non-linear structural analysis.

Extensive hands-on experience with Nastran (essential). Familiarity with other FEA software (e.g., Abaqus, Ansys) would be advantageous.

A strong understanding of fundamental structural mechanics principles and the ability to perform accurate hand calculations for stress, strain, deflection, and stability.

A solid understanding of finite element theory and its application to real-world engineering problems.

Experience in the maritime, aerospace, or similar high-performance engineering sectors is desirable.
