Technical Services Manager

Position Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Technical Services Manager to oversee and manage all technical and maintenance services for our yachting fleet. This role is responsible for ensuring the seamless operation, upkeep, and safety compliance of our yachts, as well as providing exceptional technical support and leadership to our team of technicians and crew. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in yacht maintenance, systems troubleshooting, and service management, along with a commitment to delivering high-quality service to owners, guests, and charter clients.

Key Responsibilities:

Technical Management & Maintenance:

• Oversee the maintenance and repair of yacht engines, electrical systems, HVAC, navigation equipment, and other critical systems.
• Develop and implement maintenance schedules to ensure all vessels are in peak operational condition.
• Coordinate with marine engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers to manage refits, repairs, and technical upgrades as needed.
• Ensure all technical work complies with relevant regulatory and safety standards

Budgeting & Resource Allocation:

• Prepare and manage technical service budgets, including parts, labour, and outsourcing costs.
• Monitor expenditures to ensure all repairs and maintenance remain within budget without compromising quality.
• Identify cost-saving opportunities in service operations and vendor contracts.

Team Leadership & Development:

• Lead a team of service technicians, engineers, and maintenance staff, ensuring high performance and adherence to company standards.
• Develop training programs to keep team members up-to-date with the latest yachting technologies and safety procedures.
• Conduct regular performance evaluations and support team members in career development.

Client Service & Communication:

• Act as the primary point of contact for owners, captains, and charter clients regarding technical inquiries, service status updates, and ongoing maintenance needs.
• Provide clear, accurate reporting on all technical service activities, including condition reports, repair schedules, and cost estimates.
• Manage client expectations, ensuring a high level of satisfaction and clear communication.

Safety & Regulatory Compliance:

• Ensure all yachts and technical operations comply with maritime safety regulations and environmental standards.
• Manage risk assessment protocols and ensure safety checks are conducted regularly.
• Liaise with maritime authorities and certification bodies as required for inspections, audits, and certification renewals.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5+ years of experience in yacht technical services, marine maintenance, or a similar role.
• In-depth knowledge of yacht engineering systems, maintenance best practices, and industry regulations.
• Proven leadership experience with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to make sound decisions under pressure.
• Proficiency with maintenance software, budgeting, and reporting tools.
