Are you an experienced Purchaser in the yachting sector based in the region of La Ciotat to Marseille?

SYR are working with an international refit group as they look to appoint a new member to their purchasing team. A key role within the organisation, you’ll be working with a wide range of service and product suppliers to purchase critical items and services for ongoing refit projects. 

Duties will include:

– Developing and building relationships with a wide range of local and international suppliers of services and products.

– Populating an in-house database with supplier contacts, contracts and information.

– Working with the quotations and projects department to understand buying lists.

– Purchasing and negotiating on a wide range of services and products.

– Ensuring quality and delivery of purchased items or services aligns with project need.

– Constantly keeping in touch with the industry and developments to ensure that the latest products are used on refits.

– Supplying accounts with required information for payments.

Ideally we are seeking someone who already works in a shipyard setting along the French Riviera. An individual with a strong network already in place who is keen to grow their career with a new employer who have an aggressive and challenging growth strategy. You’ll be organised, outgoing and ambitious and be rewarded for your hard work with a strong earnings package.

    Superyacht Project Manager

    Are you an ambitious project manager within the superyacht industry, or keen to step into a role in project management?

    SYR are working in close partnership with a leading refit group with shipyard facilities in La Ciotat who are currently looking to grow their project management team to respond to a busy season of refit works. 

    Reporting into the Project Director, the role will include the following duties:

    – Working with the planning and sales teams to build an accurate project schedule for the coming season. 

    – Accurately staffing each project with internal and external resources to meet project timelines

    – Seeking out and appointing specialist support for each project, quality checking and referencing

    – Overseeing multiple projects, ensuring deadlines, cost and quality deliverables are met

    – Regular reporting back to senior management throughout each project

    As an individual you’ll ideally have fulfilled a role in project management for the last 2-3 years and be keen to step your career forwards in managing larger and more complex projects. With solid technical expertise and a great ability to manage and lead others, you’ll be confident in co-ordinating stakeholders across all areas of each project and have the drive and ambition to ensure deliverables are met or exceeded in everything you do. 

    You’ll be happy and able to be based in or near to La Ciotat and at minimum speak fluent English (French is a plus).

      Superyacht Project Manager

      We’ve an exciting new role for a Project Manager for a multi-site superyacht refit brand in Marseille. 

      With a history of yacht refit and on-site capability for craft up to 100m alongside, the yard have a sterling reputation for quality service, reliability and being able to deliver projects within required scope. Having experienced a busy winter season, they are now embarking on the search for a Project Manager to join them with the intention to support a number of incoming works this autumn. 

      As Project Manager you will report into the site director, with the following duties:

      – Liaison with the site director to understand the season’s project schedules and outline plans for vessel acceptance and redelivery.

      – Working with the estimating team to understand the scope of works and put in place deliverables, timelines and labour requirements.

      – Secure third party labour/service suppliers for specific aspects of each project.

      – Manage all operational parts of your assigned projects to ensure quality, time and cost targets are met.

      – Assume a position of technical leadership, able to negotiate and troubleshoot with both internal and external staff to ensure project continuity.

      Our ideal candidate for this role will already be working with a refit shipyard facility and be keen to further develop their career with a large brand that can offer both career growth and an exciting selection of projects. You will have a technical background of understanding either theoretically as a Naval Architect, or from time at sea as an Engineer and be confident and capable to lead and manage complex projects. 

      Whilst English is widely spoken across the business, French language to a reasonable professional standard is required. 

      On offer is a salary of €5-6,000/month along with further benefits.

        Shipyard Safety Manager

        We’re looking to speak with an experienced Safety Manager with a shipyard background. 

        Due to continued growth, our client are looking to appoint an accomplished safety professional to review and evolve their safety policies and procedures to bring them up to the highest standards. A reputable shipyard group with multiple offices, the team are looking to grow and onboard a safety professional with a strong track record. 

        Reporting into shipyard management, the role will see you:

        – On initial arrival, audit the yard to understand current policies and procedures before building a strategy.

        – Spend time working through safety challenges to provide acceptable and sustainable ongoing outcomes.

        – Work to develop SOPs and LOPs to ensure continued safety.

        – Work with departments to understand their safety needs.

        – Produce reports for management across safety policy, isolated and ongoing incidents.

        – Act as the main point of contact for all safety matters.

        In a candidate, we seek an individual who has previously fulfilled a similar role in safety in a shipyard environment. You’ll have a solid understanding of the various rules and regulations the shipyard is governed by and be able to drive the facility forwards as a beacon of safety and reliability. With an approachable character, you’ll be able to work closely with a range of stakeholders to ensure the organisation meets local and international requirements and be confident in managing a safe working environment for your colleagues.
