We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Shipyard Logistics Manager to oversee all aspects of logistics operations in a busy refit shipyard in Marseille. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the transportation and delivery of high-value items for international shipping, ensuring smooth and efficient operations across a site that at times can be working across up to 15 large scale luxury vessels

Reporting into the General Manager, responsibilites will include:

  • Develop and implement logistics strategies to optimize operations and enhance efficiency
  • Coordinate with internal teams and external partners to ensure timely delivery and adherence to shipping regulations
  • Manage inventory levels and ensure availability of necessary resources for shipping activities
  • Monitor and analyze logistics performance metrics to identify areas for improvement and implement solutions
  • Lead a team in stores and logistics and provide guidance and support in daily operations
  • Collaborating with internal teams to plan and execute logistics operations
  • Communicating with carriers, freight forwarders, and customs agents to ensure smooth shipping processes

    Are you an experienced project manager seeking a new challenge within the world of large yacht refit?

    SYR are working in close partnership with an international refit brand with shipyards across Europe. As part of their growth and in response to a busy upcoming season, the team needs to grow and are hiring another project manager into their team. Reporting into the General Manager, the role will include the following duties:

    – Working with planning and general management to work out the schedule for the upcoming season

    – Being the first point of contact for the client when the yacht arrives for its assigned project, possessing a strong understanding of project requirements and assosciated timescales

    – Onboarding and overseeing subcontrators, as well as working with colleagues on site to ensure a well managed project

    – Regular reporting to internal and external stakeholders

    – Troubleshoot and quality control across the entire project phase, ensuring expectations of all parties are met

    – Final delivery and handover to the client 

     

    In a candidate we seek either an ex-seafarer in a technical position or a degree qualified engineer with practical and hands-on experience. You’ll need a solid grasp of yacht refits and be a good people person, confident to lead and negotiate where possible. English is the main language spoken on site, however skills in French or Italian language would be beneficial.

As the sole purchasing responsible within the team, you will be tasked with growing the purchasing function and in time building a team around you. 

      Responsibilities:

      • Negotiate contracts and terms with suppliers and subcontractors to achieve favorable pricing and delivery schedules.

        As an Estimator for the yard you will play a key role in the success of their yachtbuilding projects. You will be responsible for accurately estimating the costs of superyacht refit projects, providing technical expertise and contributing to the overall success of the team. This role requires a deep understanding of project costing within the yachtbuilding industry and a passion for delivering excellence in every project. You’ll be working on projects of up to 100m with sometimes complex demands with a need to stay on top of the commercial aspect of each quotation

        Duties will include:

        • Analyze superyacht refit project specifications and requirements to create accurate cost estimates
        • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and suppliers to gather all the necessary information for costing

            SYR are working in close partnership with a leading refit group with shipyard facilities in La Ciotat who are currently looking to grow their project management team to respond to a busy season of refit works. 

            Reporting into the Project Director, the role will include the following duties:

            – Working with the planning and sales teams to build an accurate project schedule for the coming season. 

            – Accurately staffing each project with internal and external resources to meet project timelines

            – Seeking out and appointing specialist support for each project, quality checking and referencing

            – Overseeing multiple projects, ensuring deadlines, cost and quality deliverables are met

            – Regular reporting back to senior management throughout each project
