In this pivotal role, you’ll lead innovative design projects for renowned brands across the maritime and hospitality industries, from concept to completion.

We’re looking for a seasoned professional to drive design excellence, manage complex projects, and mentor our talented team. You’ll leverage your creative vision and strategic mindset to deliver outstanding results, ensuring client satisfaction and project profitability.

What You’ll Bring

Education & Experience

  • 10+ years of post-graduate experience in a relevant design or architectural field, ideally with a degree or diploma.
  • Demonstrated success leading design teams from inception to completion for at least 10 years, showcasing your ability to deliver exceptional designs with on-site experience.
  • Strong grasp of project management methodologies and a proven track record of managing project budgets strategically to ensure profitability.

Skills & Expertise

  • Exceptional conceptual design skills, including a keen eye for color, texture, and materials.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (2D & 3D); Vectorworks experience is a plus.
  • Expertise in FF&E selection, including materials, finishes, detailing, and scheduling.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, and visual), with the ability to present high-level proposals and concepts to clients.
  • Proven ability to manage time, schedules, and workflow efficiently, with a strong focus on meeting deadlines and client expectations.
  • Experience collaborating effectively with contractors, sub-teams, architects, and engineers on site.
  • Strategic thinker with a keen understanding of project reporting and documentation.
  • A natural leader who can mentor and support junior and middleweight designers.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of coordinating multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Proactive and self-confident, yet receptive to constructive feedback.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage projects from initial concept through to successful completion, ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Present design concepts and project updates to clients at steering committee meetings.
  • Provide strong leadership and initiative in managing project schedules and timelines.
  • Brief and manage design teams on live projects, overseeing their time logs and attendance.
  • Delegate tasks effectively and maintain team budgeted hours, providing support and guidance to team members.
  • Build and nurture client relationships, identifying and pursuing new business opportunities and attending industry networking events.
  • Develop and refine detailed designs, including material selection and specifications.
  • Conduct site visits and work closely with sub-contractors and clients to ensure design integrity.
  • Take accountability for project deliverables and approve all project outputs.
  • Actively contribute to senior management meetings, offering insights and recommendations for improving for productivity, efficiency, and strategy.
  • Ensure client satisfaction and project profitability across all your assigned projects.
  • Organize and control your personal team, as well as other individuals involved in your projects, reporting directly to the Directors.
