Role:

  • Conduct detailed linear and non-linear structural analyses using Nastran 
  • Develop and validate finite element models of complex structural components and assemblies. 
  • Perform static, dynamic, and buckling analyses to assess structural behaviour under various loading conditions. 
  • Perform hand calculations to verify and provide physical insight into FEA results.
  • Collaborate closely with design engineers to optimize structural designs for weight, strength, and stiffness.

Background

A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Naval Architecture, Aerospace Engineering, or a closely related discipline with a strong emphasis on structural mechanics. 

Proven experience (typically 7+ years, adjust based on desired seniority) in performing linear and non-linear structural analysis. 

Extensive hands-on experience with Nastran (essential). Familiarity with other FEA software (e.g., Abaqus, Ansys) would be advantageous. 

A strong understanding of fundamental structural mechanics principles and the ability to perform accurate hand calculations for stress, strain, deflection, and stability. 

A solid understanding of finite element theory and its application to real-world engineering problems. 

Experience in the maritime, aerospace, or similar high-performance engineering sectors is desirable.

    Reporting into the Head of Naval Architecture, duties will include:

                    • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience as an Electrical Craft Technician or similar role, demonstrating proficiency in electrical installations, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
                    • Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of electrical systems, including motors, control systems, and circuits, as well as the ability to read and interpret complex electrical drawings and schematics.
                    • Certifications: Relevant electrical certifications and licenses as required by local or national regulations (e.g., Journeyman Electrician).
                    • Self-Management: Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, while consistently delivering high-quality results.
                    • Physical Requirements: Ability to work in confined spaces, elevated positions, and physically demanding environments; may require lifting heavy equipment or materials.
                    • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with team members, supervisors, and other departments.

                    Preferred Qualifications:

                    • Familiarity with PLCs, motor control centers (MCC), or other advanced electrical systems.
