        Are you a master in maritime CFD, a whizz with hydrodynamics and passionate about making a change within the maritime world through decarbonisation

        We’re working with a consultancy based in the UK who specialise in decarbonisation projects and pushing the envelope of maritime engineering. Birthed from the highest levels of competitive sailing, the team has evolved from an initial few to a team of more than 50 engineers working across foil assistance, electrification and wind-assistance with projects operating globally and more in development. 

        As Head of CFD you will be in charge of all things fluid dynamics and lead a small team of analysts and engineers to model and test a wide range of projects from innovative hull shapes to novel foils and much in between. Reporting into the C-Suite, this is a critical role in the companies growth and development. Duties will include:

        – Working with fellow department heads to ascertain team requirement within current and future projects

        – Resource allocation within the CFD team to cope with demand, which may vary hugely from one project to another 

        – Acting as the authority on all things fluid dynamics, representing the business interally and externally

        – Leadership and hands on involvement through fluid dynamics modelling and analysis, along with creation of accurate reports for a range of stakeholders

        – Performance testing, analysis, troubleshooting and suggestion of changes or improvements

        – Input into hull and appendage design from the outset

         

        In a candidate we seek an individual with exPertise in maritime CFD and hydrodynamics. Degree education to either masters or PHD level you’ll offer a huge wealth of knowledge and be fully abreast of current and incoming tools and projects that will assist your employer in moving forwards. Excellent people management and leadership skills will also be required for both direct and indirect people management. Experience with STAR-CCM+ will also be essential along with strong 3D Cad expertise.
