SYR are looking for a highly experienced Electrical Engineer keen to work with a leading employer in the world of maritime decarbonisation. 

As an engineering consultancy with an incredible pedigree behind it, this organisation has grown steadily since launch to offer a broad range of highly innovate solutions that are aimed at improving maritime performance and reducing carbon emissions. With a number of their major projects making international news and catching the attention of some of the largest maritime employers, they have expanded to a team of close to 50, covering a wide range of disciplines. 

With one of their major projects now evolving and being adopted by more customers, they are developing a team to focus solely on this product and seek a highly experienced Electrical Engineer to join them and drive forwards improvement and evolutions of their systems for increased performance and reliability. 

A role that will be crucial to the continued development of this product, the role will include the following duties;

– Designing an implementing large electrical systems and installations.

– Building schematics and guidelines for shipyard clients to adhere to when installing these specific systems.

– Ensuring that all works are compliant and adhere to ATEX regulations.

– Leading others and integrating into wider project teams, using your electrical expertise to find positive solutions to engineering challenges.

Our ideal candidate will be batchelors or ideally masters educated in electrical engineering with a strong understanding of large marine electrical projects. You’ll understand the challenges that such projects will face and be able to design and specify systems that will fit within the ATEX framework along with meeting compliance requirements across both marine and electrical applications.

    Mechanical Engineer - Maritime

    Are you a passionate Mechanical Engineer keen to be involved in some of the most ambitious projects, with a focus on decarbonisation?

    We’re working with a brand leading the charge in maritime decarbonisation who are looking to bolster their mechanical engineering team. With an incredibly broad spectrum of projects, this growing consultancy have been at the forefront of development in the maritime sector developing systems based around foil-assitance, wind power and hybrid/electric technology and are becoming a well known brand in the industry when it comes to building cleaner vessels!

    As Mechanical Engineer you’ll be joining the mechanical team to work across a host of projects, from small mechanisms to major mechanical systems development. Duties for the role will include:

    – Design and specification of mechanical parts and assemblies from scratch.

    – Participation as part of a project team across a host of different projects.

    – 3D Design and modelling of mechanical parts and assemblies.

    – Use of a range of structural and stress focussed testing such as FEA Analysis.

    – Working with external clients to develop projects, making rolling changes as required.

    – Overseeing manufacture of parts, assemblies and systems.

    – Sea trialling and review of physical testing to refine your designs as required.

    The ideal individual for this role will come from a background in complex mechanical engineering in a high-stress environment such as automotive, motorsport, aerospace or similar and be keen to work with a brand where they can make major changes within an industry. Regularly working as part of a team, you’ll be happy to work towards a common project goal and be keen and able to give input throughout all stages of a project. Degree educated in a mechanical discipline, you’ll have excellent CAD skills alongside experience and ability with FEA.

      Maritime FE Engineer

      Are you an expert in Finite Element Analysis and keen to join a brand at the forefront of maritime decarbonisation?

      Based in Portsmouth, this fantastic employer has been developing a range of highly innovative projects across foiling technology, new fuel methods and wind-assisted shipping and is looking for a talented FE Engineer to join them and work on FE Analysis across their broad project range. 

      Deputising to the Head of Structures, this role will see you work to test and analyse new projects which on many occasions will be the first of their kind. Being assigned to specific teams for each project, you’ll be able to prove theories and advise changes to structural designs with the common goal of producing an outcome that meets and exceeds customer and industry expectations. 

      For this role, we’re seeking an accomplished individual with strong experience in FE Analysis, ideally using Siemens NX and Nastran. Maritime experience is by no means essential, however ideally we’re seeking someone with experience working with larger structures. You’ll need to be a team player, keen to work towards a common goal of a brighter industry future and will be healthily rewarded through an excellent salary and employment package.
