We’re seeking a Technical Support Specialist to join one of the biggest names in sailing yachts. 

Based in the UK, this well known brand have spent 50 years building ocean-going yachts from 40-125ft and continue to be a leader in their field. With a bulging order book, the brand continue to grow and evolve and now seek a Technical Support Specialist for a multifaceted role that spans the organisation.

An exciting role, this position will see you support a global manufacturer-led event, acting as the main technical contact point for owners, Captains and crews involved in the flagship event as well as supporting the team in commissioning. 

Being a font of knowledge not only in sailing but also in boatbuilding, you’ll be relied upon as a troubleshooter throughout the event, from electronics to sails, interiors to deck gear. So you need to be clued up not only on the product but about sailing in general. Taking something of a lead role, you’ll be bringing together technicians in various disciplines to keep the fleet operational and in good order, both as a co-ordinator and someone on the end of a phone. With access to both internal and external tools and support, you’ll keep a consistent log of all issues, ensuring ongoing support where required and communicating with the factory and third party suppliers as required. 

On the commissioning front, you’ll also support the commissioning team from an overall perspective, being able to dip in and out of projects and supporting where necessary, continually building your knowledge base and refining your troubleshooting skills. 

As an individual, you’ll be skilled primarily as a boatbuilder, with a City & Guilds in either boatbuilding, engineering or electricals. You’ll know boats inside out but alongside this you’ll be qualified to sail them too, holding a YM Offshore qualification or similar, with commercial endorsement, STCW and ENG1. A solid communicator, you’ll be comfortable to work with Captains, crews, owners and colleagues to find solutions to a host of challenges and be able to back up your suggestions with facts and figures gained through a career on yachts.

    Commissioning Skipper- Sailing Yachts

    Are you an experienced Sailing Yacht Skipper, keen to work with one of the leading sailing yacht brands to oversee and run commissioning across their entire range. 

    This ocean-going yachtbuilder have been growing steadily and now boast an impressive order book ranging from their entry level 50ft model through to their range topping 89ft beast! With three manufacturing facilities, they employ a large team across design, manufacture and more, and continue to develop their presence as market leaders.

    Based in Norfolk, the Commissioning Skipper will take on responsibility for leading sea trialling, testing and commissioning of yachts across sites on the east and south coast, along with periodical trips abroad as required. Working in partnership with multiple departments, the role will come with the following duties:

    – Management of a commissioning team on board during trials and tests.

    – Developing and executing a sea trialling schedule in line with resource availability, tides and weather.

    – Keep a commissioning log.

    – Adhere to H&S requirements, along with company processes and procedures whilst ashore and at sea.

    – Develop and create feedback reports for snagging, repair and upgrade.

    – Assist with deliveries and further trialling in line with company requirements .

    As an individual, you’ll be a seasoned Skipper with many years spent in lead roles on sailing yachts of up to 30m. Holding your YM Offshore, STCW95 and ENG1 you’ll be a disciplined and considered individual capable of leading a team of varying experiences in a host of different situations. You’ll be engaging not only with colleagues but also with owners, so a great customer manner and a level-headed outlook and attitude are essential to your success.

      Commissioning Rigger

      An accomplished Yacht Rigger?

      We’re looking for a talented Rigger used to working with sailing yachts in the 40-100ft range to join one of the sailing world’s best known brands, supporting their fleet through commissioning and on a range of global events. With a full order book and a large global fleet, the role of Rigger will be a busy one and lean on your years of experience to ensure that customers’ yachts are performing in line with the needs of the customer.

      Your role will see you involved in all aspects of rigging, from;

      – Receipt of the rig at factory.

      – Build of the entire rig, including specifications, lines and setup.

      – Installation of rigs on-site.

      – Fitting and rigging of sails and associated sail handling equipment.

      – Rig set up, fine tuning.

      – Snagging and troubleshooting.

      – Ongoing technical support.

      As an individual you’ll have gained expertise as a Rigger through a career spent working with sailing yachts. You will be au fait with the major rigging brands, able to work closely with them to optimise each rig for its intended use and to offer customers advice on sail handling and performance both during and post-delivery. The role will see you predominantly based on the UK east coast, however there will be some expectation and ability to travel to international events in a support role.
