Palma International Boat Show Report

As we now relax and enjoy the Mayday bank holiday, we look back on  PIBS, the first major yacht show of 2023.

Hosted in the centre of one of yachting’s largest European hubs, Palma de Mallorca, the show encompasses two different sub events:

  • Palma Superyacht Village – An event solely focusing on yachts over 30m and their associated supply chain
  • Palma International Boatshow – Focusing on smaller vessels, services and products.

Held over 4 days, the event attracts a wide range of attendees from across the European market and 2023 boasted the highest number of exhibitors and pre-booked attendees since the shows launch.

SYR had two of our team at the event for its duration. Ed Ewer (our CEO) and Simon Foulkes (Senior Consultant – Management & Brokerage). With a number of pre-arranged meetings and four days of ad-hoc opportunities to network both team members were keen to ensure the SYR brand continues to develop across the European market in our key sectors of Management/Brokerage, Design/Engineering and Skilled Trades.

Days 1&2 for both were spent attending pre-arranged meetings, both in the show itself and outside of the venue at STP, one of the regions most prominent refit facilities. With a successful run of appointments, we were able to secure a number of new roles and also agree a number of longer term opportunities to support refit brands in the area later this season once refits begin once more.

Evenings were also put to good use, attending a number of high profile events including the Superyacht Charities Seafarers Supper, one of the events of the show and a chance to both part and network late into the night.

Whilst the weekend days of the show are much more public focussed, strong networking opportunities remained and team SYR were able to pitch our services to an increasing range of local and regional organisations who will likely be looking to make use of  our services in 2023.

With our growing reputation for providing high quality staff to our key markets it was a pleasure to continue to spend time in Palma, where we expect to become the choice of local employers when it comes to supporting recruitment for busy periods. We will be visiting the region on a regular basis to support our client base with temporary and permanent recruitment needs.
