As we reach June, SYR are riding the crest of a wave. Our strong start to the year continues with a flurry of placements across yacht management, yacht design and skilled trades with the usual slow down as we ease towards summer showing no signs of coming. All desks remain busy with the company currently chasing a record year’s performance.

Yet the biggest news is our latest hire. Please join us in welcoming the highly talented Alisha O’Flanagan to the SYR team as Head of Technical Recruitment.

Alisha joins us from six years in the maritime recruitment world, where she’s been hugely successful in the design and engineering field. With big future plans, she’s joined us to evolve our already impressive capabilities in the technical space.

Working closely with both Ed and Luke, her role will focus on expanding our networks in all things technical. She’ll be attending a host of events over the coming months, so please reach out and say hi!

Speaking of events, we’re getting into the thick of them right now, attending Seawork, Ocean Talks, British Superyacht Summer Party and other local gatherings, ensuring SYR stay in the thick of the industry and continue to network amongst both employers and jobseekers.

If you’re looking at a new role this year, we currently have one of the most diverse selections of positions we’ve had all year, so head to the website to find out more!

Have a great month!

ALISHA | Recruitment Consultant – Head of Technical Recruitment – Design, Engineering & Production | alisha@sy-r.com

An old face back in town! I’m excited to be joining a busy team after a short hiatus from the industry, with close to a decade in recruitment, predominantly in the marine industry focusing on the design and engineering world, I’m pleased to be back and with a lot of really exciting roles on the horizon as well.

My focus will span across superyacht design through to technical engineering in the new technology and commercial markets. With a plethora of roles for Designers already on the books – Engineers will also expect to see over the next couple of weeks some extremely exciting roles across software, performance and naval architecture based in London and the south coast with a start-up just about to be launched in the industry!

Junior FF&E Designer
One of the best design houses on the south coast is looking to bolster their FF&E team! An excellent opportunity to be working on some of the most elegant interior designs and to be trained by one of the industry’s leading names based in the UK.

They are open to seeing some of the raw talent coming out of university or an early career professional looking to catapult their career in the superyacht world from a yacht team or high-end residential studio.

LUKE | Recruitment Consultant – Engineering, Production & Skilled Trades | luke@sy-r.com

A whirlwind of a month here at SYR and a very healthy Q2 for my desk too. Lots of opportunities in Europe proving to be fruitful for skilled trades and production management. More and more work is piling up, which is keeping me busy with some great clients who are both new and returning. Still a challenge here in the UK but still making some headway with some good leads and awesome prospects that I am hoping to close off soon, to continue to build my desk.

Plenty of client meetings coming up too which are both independent and at a number of shows on the horizon. It is the start of boat show season soon and I for one can’t wait!

In summary, a prosperous, albeit challenging, month in parts but I am going into Q3 with a steady stream of work, further opportunities and targets ready to be hit!

Quick shout out to the newest member of the team also, Alisha O’Flanagan, Head of Technical Recruitment who brings a wealth of knowledge and a huge network within design and engineering. A great asset for SYR to help bolster our ever-growing team and skillset. Welcome Alisha!
