Welcome to the latest SYR View From The Desk

If you would like to receive this update as a monthly email register here.

Here at SYR we are waving goodbye to Q1 and careering into Q2!

The team and I have enjoyed some excellent events this month. Simon and I attended the London Superyacht Investor Conference and we all brushed off our smart suits for the Superyacht Charities Ball which, as always, was a fantastic evening. It was great to see so many of my network and to help raise funds for such a great selection of charities.

It’s hard to believe, but the Palma International Boat Show starts in just over two weeks and we’re looking forward to attending one of the first major European yacht shows of 2023. This great event caters for all corners of the superyacht industry and is always well attended, with rumours that this will be the biggest show since its launch.

Simon and I will be at the show for its duration, on hand for meetings both on-site at the show, and to visit a number of our clients based in the local marinas and shipyards. If you’d like to meet to talk all things yacht brokerage, yacht design, yacht management, refit or yacht building then click here hello@superyachtrecruiter.com

With regards to recruitment, we are hearing lots of positive noises from across the industry. Job and candidate registrations are way up and we’re expecting a busy flow of recruitment now through to the summer. If you’re ready to move, now’s the time to chat!

Yachting has exploded into life in the past few weeks, with a broad range of exciting new opportunities coming in across design and marinas. There is a definite buzz in the air when it comes to companies hiring and we’re excited to see what the next month brings. It’s also nearly time for our first major show of the year in Palma, a chance to spend quality time with clients and candidates in one of our busiest yachting hubs.

CURTIS | Senior Recruitment Consultant – Skilled Trades | curtis@superyachtrecruiter.com

I have been working with more customers across warranty and aftersales. An area that many people “on the tools” can often overlook, we have had great success working with highly skilled Engineers/Technicians facilitating the move out of production and into servicing/warranty.

For those willing and able to live/work in Europe we have plenty of requirements for skilled contractors; Carpenters, Electricians, Composite Boatbuilders and Marine Engineers. If you would like to discuss the job market and/or your career plans, please reach out to me for that initial conversation.

Service Technician

If you have experience in performing aftersales/warranty/repair work from the yachting sector, then this could be an ideal contract role for you.

To help cover the busy summer season we are looking for an all-round boatbuilder to help carry out repair work on finished yachts.

Ideally, you will have experience with composites (GRP finishing and repairs) and either mechanical/electrical/plumbing/carpentry skills.

By joining a team of skilled Service Technicians you will be expected to carry out work to a high standard as owners want the job done right so they can get back in the water ASAP.

The initial contract will be for 3-4 months and depending on the work schedule this could be extended.
